Eddie Marbell
Sports massage, Fitness and health
Combining 15 years of experience working as a sports massage therapist into personal training has given me a very deep understanding as to how the human body works, functions and moves.
AS YOUR ONLINE TRAINER, I CAN OFFER THIS EXPERIENCE TO YOU!
Why Online/Personal Training?
“Can you name a single athlete throughout history that has not needed or ever had a coach or personal trainer? No? So why do you think you don’t need one”?
Whether it’s done online or in person, by consistently correcting your technique a trainer can help your body to adapt quicker by developing optimal learning patterns. The body can learn a new movement pattern within 300 – 500 repetitions, however if the initial input is slightly wrong then it could take up to 5000 repetitions to rewind the bad habit and input the new programme (Schmidt, 2000).
About
“I’m not just a Personal Trainer”
I’m also a qualified sports massage therapist. In the past, I have worked alongside some of the U.Ks top Anatomists, Chiropractors, Physiotherapists and Doctors on a wide range of different clients who were seeking to increase their sports performance, prevent injuries or to rehabilitate themselves after injuries.
Over the past several years, I have worked with many types of people who seek various types of results. These range from amateur/professional fighters, runners, amateur/professional footballers, office workers, and even aspiring fashion designers. This has allowed me to develop many unique and useful skills. The most important of which I’ve learned is that everyone needs something different. No two people are the same and neither should their workouts or training programmes.
So I employ a totally holistic approach to fitness, drawing on my balanced knowledge of personal training, sports massage and nutrition for an all-round healthier lifestyle.
I’ve always been into playing different sports. I was very good at athletics and played semi-professional football for Newbury Town. I presently train as a Mixed Martial Artist alongside some professional athletes. Because I have trained in sports at a high level, I can draw on my experiences, my successes as well as my failures to coach you into the mindset you need to be able to achieve your goals.
My #fitin45 workouts are designed to guarantee results while spending less time training. Ideal for today’s modern professionals, regardless of your fitness goals.

My Online Training
Over the past 12yrs working as a one-t0-one coach, I’ve helped so many people transform their lives both physically and mentally. The main problem I’ve observed while working in the fitness industry is that there is too much information available to the public, with little to no regulation. This leads to unsubstantiated claims that are based on pseudo-science, with insecure men and women being targeted.
The best way that I can change the status quo is by educating as many people as I can. This is why I’ve decided to expand my reach by offering online versions of my training services. This is great news for you because it means that now you’ll have instant access to highly skilled professional advice from anywhere in the world.
In many ways my online training style, is exactly the same as if I were to train you at a gym or park. It is a very effective and time-efficient way to work out, and you won’t miss the personal touch of the face-to-face sessions because I will be there with you every step of the way via Skype. You are also given a tailored fitness and diet programme that you will need to follow in order to attain your goals
I have a very good reputation within the fitness community. My skills not only lie in my training technique but also being able to understanding people who are from different cultural backgrounds. This experience has allowed me to focus on an individual’s mindset effectively to get the best out of them and achieve their goals
Online training is a far less expensive way to train. There is freedom to choose your own location as well as the time and there is on-going support.

Specialist Areas
Lose Fat
Using a combination of food and exercise, I will help you to increase your metabolic rate. I will also show you how to make the necessary changes to your eating and lifestyle habits. With plenty of guidance and support you will see the very issues that have been causing you to struggle time after time with your weight.
Build Muscle
Everybody is different and so people build muscle at different rates depending on their age, sex, and genetics. But muscle development significantly increases if you raise your metabolic rate, gradually add more resistance to weighted exercises and slow down the speed of your resistance training. Through a tailored diet and training program, I will motivate you into achieving these goals.
Exercise, Mobility & Movement
You may be healthy and exercise but due to our modern sedentary lifestyles many of us lack mobility and movement. Sometimes this can lead to pain or discomfort. Flexibility is the ability of your joints to move through their full range of motion without pain or stiffness. There are many exercises you can do to improve your flexibility, including stretching. Through one-to-one training, I will teach you how you can do these.
Boxing / Kick Boxing & Self Defense
While studying at University in Wales, I started training in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). I fell in love with the sport and I’ve never looked back. My journey took me to London where I ended up training alongside some of the best Amateur & professional fighters on the regional fight scene. As a result I have a great understanding of various aspects of combat sports that range from Boxing/Muay Thai, Wrestling & Grappling. Now, I can share this knowledge with you.
One-to-One Personal Training
My one-to-one personal training experience is built on a rapport. I do this by creating an atmosphere of trust and respect. What is Sports/Deep Tissue Massage?
Sports Massage basically refers to “Deep Tissue” manipulation. What is deep tissue, you may ask? What you have are different layers of muscles throughout your body. There are the “Superficial” muscles. These are the muscles that lay closest to the skin and which you can sometimes see on a well-developed physique such as for example, the Bicep muscle or the Pectoral chest muscles. Then you have the “Deep” muscles which lay underneath the superficial muscles and are not so visible to the eye. So now when you hear the phrase “Deep Tissue” massage, this is what it means, massaging not only the superficial muscles but also those deeper muscles that make up your body.
A sports massage therapist has a detailed understanding of how the human body functions, what muscles do and how they move. They also know where muscles originate from and insert to and how certain muscles are more prone to injury or tightness. Whilst the title may suggest a focus on working within sports and it is true to say that there is an emphasis on active clients, anyone who is suffering from a condition that limits their movement will benefit from a Sports Massage.
Dry Needling
Dry Needling is a very successful treatment, which uses very fine needles without any medication (a dry needle) to achieve its aim. It is used to treat pain and dysfunction caused by trigger points and inflammation. It is not like Acupuncture used in Chinese medicine, which aims to treat imbalance of the body’s energy or Qi.
Dry needling works by changing the way your body senses pain (neurological effects) and by helping the body heal stubborn muscle spasm associated with trigger points (myofascial effects). There are also electrical and chemical changes associated with this therapy, which assist in the healing process.
The Needles used are very fine and solid, unlike needles used for injections. Many patients do not even feel it penetrate the skin. The sensation felt is often a dull ache and sometimes a twitch response occurs.
Benefits of Dry Needling Treatment Include:
- Increased Range of Motion
- Reduction of acute and chronic musculoskeletal pain
- Reduce dysfunction and muscular tension
- Reduced Inflammation
- Can be used to treat fascia, muscle tissue, tendon, and ligament injuries.
- Increase localised blood flow
It can be used as a stand alone therapy or is sometimes offered during sports massage for stubborn knots to get a deeper release.
Rehabilitation
Sports massage rehabilitation is a site-specific treatment that has a precise goal or outcome in mind. Similar to physiotherapist, the client presents with pain in a specific area, that he would like treated. Experience has taught us that during rehabilitation many clients are able to learn more quickly under supervision. By having consistent technique correction your body will adapt quicker and the body will develop optimal motor learning patterns. The body can learn a new movement pattern within 300 – 500 repetitions, however if the initial input is slightly wrong then it could take up to 5000 repetitions to rewind the bad habit and input the new programme (Schmidt, 2000).
Medical Massage
Medical Massage is outcome based and primarily involves the application of specific treatment protocols targeted toward a specific problem. Doctors and health specialists prescribe medical massage to treat a variety of musculoskeletal problems that include sports injuries, muscle pains, edema, muscle cramps, migraines, pregnancy-related aches and pains, and a wide variety of other physical problems.
How it Works?
Upon your arrival an informal chat will follow about what you would like from the treatment. This will be followed by a consultation form being filled out. It will then be time for the treatment. My background in sports injuries means I have a thorough understanding of muscle movement and function. My expertise allows for identification and treatment of conditions by working with the client to uncover the source of the problems and resolve it by delivering the optimum bespoke program of treatment.
This award is based solely on Client Feedback and reflects the 5 star treatment provided to clients by me.

Reviews
As a personal trainer with over 10yrs experience and a men’s physique competitor, I know the importance of sports massage. I was first introduced to Eddie through a friend who found him on Groupon. I was preparing for the UKBFF USN Classic Bodypower 2015 Men’s Physique and I would train twice, sometimes 3 times a day. As you can imagine, my muscles would go through a lot of physical stress from all the bodybuilding and gym work. Going to see Eddie once, sometimes twice a week for a sports massage during the build up to the competition helped me immensely with my conditioning. It increased blood flow around my body. This would aid my body to recover much quicker than it would on its own, therefore allowing me to train even more. After experiencing the many benefits of sports/deep tissue massage, I always recommend my clients to see Eddie and I would also recommend him to you.
I am a full time aerobics instructor/personal trainer. My job is very rewarding but can be very demanding at times. Because my work is very practical, it is very important I keep my body in good shape. I find that my body particularly my neck and shoulders become very tight and tensed due to all the physical activity I put it through. I find deep tissue massage to be very helpful in relaxing and calming my body from regular exercise
Fighting on the international circuit for Great Britain my body’s always going through intense training. I had 2 fractured bones in my lumbar spine. Doctors told me i couldn’t compete any more after my MRI results looked pretty bad and I should just rest when I had 2 deep tissue massages with Eddie and i am back to full time training again. I feel more flexible and my agility has improved a lot. Before any major event i usually have a treatment that week to relax my body from all the training building up to competition.
I’m a Zumba instructor doing 10 classes a week, I was in desperate need of a deep tissue massage after having had several waff massages through Groupon and then not bothering all together!!! Not good.
I first found Eddie on Groupon in Feb 2012, he is highly professional, totally knows what he is doing, takes the time to understand where problem points are and gets to know what you need to remedy them.
My muscle fatigue is deep and it will take time to undo all the knots, but I know I’m in the right place, I’m booked in once a month although it should be more. I’m very happy with the service Eddie provides and can highly recommend him.
Any gym Eddie goes to automatically becomes 5 star for me and my friends, i have been following him and what he does and says for over 3 years now and is the first and only person i will ever ask for help. He has helped me in bulking, in losing weight, in sport preparation, in muscle injury and pain and even in my boxing to an incredible level. its hard to find someone who you can be professional and have banter with at the same time and he definitely brings that.
his extensive knowledge of all muscles and stretches and his sports massages have helped me so much and i cant wait to begin my new cycle of fitness with his help.
I train with a PT called Eddie. He is a terrific personal trainer. He’s service is exactly what it says, personal. He starts each session by checking in on what we want to focus on and how I’m feeling. And he keeps things mixed up (focusing on cardio one day, and strength another). We’ll also frequently head out of the gym and spend some time in the park for example. Eddie also always keeps up to date with the latest training trends and uses me as a guinea pig to test through this. This makes sure that things are varied and means I’m excited to come and train! I couldn’t recommend him more
5 stars are for Eddie Marbell, personal trainer. Tailors the workout session by session, knowledgable and encouraging whilst never letting you slack off.
Frequently Asked Questions
Online/Personal Training
Why do people need personal/online training?
By having consistent technique correction your body will adapt quicker and the body will develop optimal motor learning patterns. The body can learn a new movement pattern within 300 – 500 repetitions, however if the initial input is slightly wrong then it could take up to 5000 repetitions to rewind the bad habit and input the new programme (Schmidt, 2000).
Do I need to diet as well as exercise, or will exercise alone give me good results?
I try to discourage “diets”, as they are often only a temporary fix for a long-term problem. I do highly encourage healthy eating through permanent behavioral changes that you can live with. A healthy diet, combined with adequate exercise, will help you achieve your desired goals much faster than either diet or exercise alone.
Do I need to purchase expensive equipment or have an exercise room to train at home?
No. Depending on the individual, equipment will range from little to none. I look for the most cheapest and cost effective way to train my clients. If you do not have the equipment already you may be looking to spend around £100. Examples of equipment I may ask you to purchase will be Swiss balls, resistance bands, pull up bar, kettlebells, jump ropes and a yoga mat. Very little space is actually needed to train at home. A 10 x 10 area free of furniture and other obstacles is all that is needed.
How long will it take before I see results?
Generally, it takes 8-12 weeks before you begin to “see” results. What type of results you “see” is very individual and depends on your baseline fitness, how hard and how frequently you exercise, and what your goals are. More importantly however, you will “feel” the results of exercise almost immediately. We try to de-emphasize the obsession with the visual results, and pay more attention to all of the other wonderful things exercise can do for you like increase your energy, reduce stress levels and improve your strength.
How often can I speak with you during the programme?
You can contact me as often as you need via email, Whatsapp or mobile. You will receive a reply within 24 hours. My online sessions are done via one-on-one video calls. So I’ll be there with you to motivate you as you train.
How often should I exercise?
In general, it is recommended that you start with 2-3 exercise sessions a week. Over time, you can progress to 5-6 days a week. If you progress slowly, and vary your exercise routines, you will avoid any overuse injury or exercise burnout.
I’ve never exercised before, is personal training safe for me?
As long as you start slowly, and do not try to progress too quickly, you will find wonderful benefits from personal training.
What is “core” training?
The “core” muscles of the body are generally those muscles which attach to and stabilize the spine. These muscles must be trained adequately in athletes and weekend warriors alike to prevent injuries that can occur when instability and poor balance and coordination are due to poor “core strength”.
Why is it important that I check with my physician before I start an exercise program?
Depending on your age and health history, there may be some important tests the doctor may need to perform before you begin exercising.
Will you put me on a diet?
Personal trainers cannot legally tell their clients what foods to eat or give meal plans as they are not degreed nutritionists and, it is against our “scope of practice” to give advice on specific supplements that our clients should take. However, what we can and will do is review the foundation of healthy nutrition, and assist clients on tracking their nutrition through food logs to create awareness and accountability.
Sports massage
What can I expect when I go for a massage appointment?
On your first visit I will review your health history form with you to determine your treatment needs and goals
Is it painful?
Due to the nature of the deep muscle tissue manipulation it can be a bit uncomfortable at first. However, your body will respond as muscle stiffness decreases and flexibility increases. The massage should not cause you significant, prolonged pain.
I bruise easily; can I still get a massage?
It is important to let your massage therapist know (this should be asked on the health history form you will asked to fill out on your first visit). Massage therapy is not recommended for people who suffer from hemophilia.
Must I undress for my massage?
Massage therapists are required to cover /drape you with a sheet so that they expose only the area which they are working on. You may need to undress for therapy. However, you do not need to expose yourself in any way that you are uncomfortable.
What if I am uncomfortable with my body?
It is possible to work on a client who is dressed. So just let your therapist know your comfort level.
Am I expected to talk during the massage?
If you wish to have silence, you should say so at the beginning of the treatment. I may however, require verbal information pertinent to health findings during the treatment.
If I receive treatment from you and I don’t feel any improvement or the problem gets worse, can I have a refund?
I strive to offer the best customer service experience I can. This includes my aftercare service: Sometimes after a sports massage there maybe some pain or discomfort. If this occurs, it’s normal and should improve within 24hrs. However If there’s no improvement after 24-48hrs, then I’ll book you in for a follow up session to see the best way to resolve the problem. This can be done by offering you further treatment at no extra cost, gift vouchers and/or a refund. Please Note: If you decide to see another health professional, within this period (other than a medical doctor) before deciding to come back and see me, my aftercare service will no longer be valid.
